The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Starts Publishing Balance of Payments Statistics in accordance with BPM6

Starting with the Balance of Payments Statistics for September 2014, balance of payments data will be published in accordance with the new definitions and methods set out in the sixth edition of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6). In this context, the balance of payments statistics have been revised backwards so as to conform to BPM6 presentation, and historical data for “Analytical Presentation” and “Detailed Presentation” have been provided beginning from 1975 and 1984, respectively.

For comparison purposes, both the old and the new presentations of balance of payments statistics will be provided to users until the dissemination of March 2015 data. 

Information on the related changes can be found in the “Methodology” note as well as the “Note on the Changeover to the 6th Edition of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6)” published on 14 August 2014 to inform the public in advance. Both documents are accessible at the Internet address http://www.tcmb.gov.tr under “Statistics/Balance of Payments and Related Statistics/Balance of Payments Statistics”.
